Implant Crowns and Bridges

What are dental crowns?

Dental porcelain can be sculpted to closely replicate the look and shape of natural tooth enamel, while providing good strength and resilience.

A crown is used to protect a tooth that has broken or is heavily decayed or filled. Crowns can also be used to improve teeth with severe wear and tear (due to erosion or grinding). Crowns can also protect teeth that have undergone root canal treatment, to support a partial denture, or used to restore dental implants. A crown can also be attached to a dental implant.

There are three basic types of dental crowns – porcelain, porcelain bonded to metal, and porcelain/Zirconium. They are created to feel and look like natural teeth. With good oral hygiene and maintenance crowns will provide excellent long term solution.

What are dental bridges?

Bridges are a good option for replacing one or more missing teeth. A bridge is fixed to the remaining natural teeth either side of the gap, restoring the look and function of the missing teeth. Like crowns, they are now available as an all-ceramic option for superior appearance.

Dental bridges generally require the reduction of neighbouring teeth to make room for materials used to create the bridge.
