Dr Jason Leighton DC,MChiro ,MSc(Chiro Paediatrics), FRCC (Paeds), FEAC (Paeds), FRSM, MRCC (pain)

Paediatric, Obstetric & General Chiropractor  GDC xx

In 1988, Jason qualified as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, England, earning that year's Best Doctoral Thesis Prize for his work into mathematically modelling both the lumbar spine using mechanical engineering methods for structural analysis of bridges and; the abdominal cavity as a can of fizzy drink, comparing it to a hydraulic mechanism.  This double theory has contributed to our current clinical understanding of the origins of mechanical low back pain, and provided us with greater insight into how we treat neuromusculoskeletal health conditions.

In 2003, Jason returned to the AECC to concurrently undertake a Master of Chiropractic (MChiro), alongside an MSc(Applied Professional Development in Chiropractic Paediatrics) -usually eight years worth of work, which he completed in three years!  Through these research studies, he was honoured with the Lipe Scholarship Prize in 2005, an international research competition prize by the esteemed American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists; he was the only chiropractor ever to have presented research at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health's 2007 annual scientific Spring Meeting, and; that paper was published in the British Medical Journal's paediatric edition, The Archives of Disease in Childhood in 2007.

He was also honoured with three fellowships: from the Royal College of Chiropractors, the Royal Society of Medicine, and the European Academy of Chiropractic, predominantly for his work in paediatrics. He has published research articles in several international peer-reviewed journals.  Jason has lectured here in the UK, and in numerous countries around the world including the U.S.,Switzerland, Denmark, Portugal, Italy and Japan primarily on various paediatric and paediatric neurology topics particularly on childhood 'growing pains', perinatal cerebral insults, developmental dysplasia of the hip, breastfeeding dysfunction, otitis media, plagiocephaly and neuro-embryology.

He has served as Director of Academic Affairs within the Paediatric Faculty of the Royal College of Chiropractors for many years, and; he has sat on a Review Board for the University of Bournemouth, assessing the postgraduate Masters Degree programmes in their Healthcare Division for validation.

Jason has practiced in Barnet for the past twelve years.
